Arguably the toughest hill race on the calendar, the Arrochar Alps race on Saturday certainly lived up to its reputation. In testing conditions, with thick cloud shrounding the tops throughout and making for difficult navigation, around 25% of the original field of 96 failed to finish - including a number of high profile casualties. Alasdair Anthony narrowly won the men's race from Simon Peachey, whilst in the ladies, Claire Gordon just pipped Alayne Finlay for 1st lady.

There was a record turnout for the 3rd running of Red Moss (Bog and Burn #7). Winners were Murray Strain and Lucy Colquhoun. The sun encouraged lots of folk out and quite a few took advantage of the bright evening to cycle to the start .. including James Jarvis on a tandem with his daughter...

There was an excellent 1-2-3 for Scottish runners in the junior mens race in these trials for the UK team to go to the European Championships. Scott Macdonald (Central) was the winner, followed by Alex Hendry (also Central) and Robbie Simpson (Deeside). All three have been selected.
In the senior mens race, Prasad Prasad (Clydesdale) was 6th. Jessica Martin (Kilbarchan) was 7th amongst the junior women, followed by Catriona Buchanan in 11th.
